Exeter Associates, Inc. is an independent consulting firm located in Columbia, Maryland. Established in 1981, Exeter provides economic and financial consulting services in the areas of public utility regulation, energy, and antitrust economics. The firm maintains the highest standards in the application of economic and financial analysis to both quantitative and policy issues in the electric, gas, and other industries.

Exeter Associates, Inc. is seeking an experienced energy industry professional to join our team. As a skilled consulting firm, we specialize in economic and regulatory analysis, policy analysis, and options studies for our clients, while also providing expert testimony and preparing detailed reports. The successful candidate will work on a variety of projects, both independently and as part of a team, with key responsibilities including support during regulatory proceedings and the preparation of reports on various industry issues relevant to our clients.

Qualifications:

Education: Graduate degree in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Business, Public Policy, or related field.

Experience:

  • 5-10 years’ in addressing electric and natural gas regulatory utility, energy market, and/or energy policy issues
  • Strong quantitative skills are essential
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required
  • Experience publishing public reports or testifying before state or federal regulatory agencies is highly desirable

Responsibilities:

  • Perform economic and regulatory analysis, policy analysis, and options studies for clients
  • Prepare and present expert testimony or reports as required
  •  Work on a variety of projects, including:
    • Class cost-of-service studies
    • Revenue requirement analysis
    • Life-cycle cost analysis
    • Options studies
    • Policy analysis
    • Program and billing audits
    • Market price forecasts
    • Assistance with utility contract negotiations
  • Serve as an expert witness in utility regulatory proceedings before state and federal commissions

Comp and Company Perks:

  • Competitive salary: $80k-130k depending on experience and education

We’re looking for a driven professional with experience in economics, public policy, or a related field, holding at least a Bachelor’s degree. A Master’s degree is a bonus! Ideal candidates will possess robust quantitative, analytical, and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex technical information into accessible language. Experience with utility regulatory filings and a background in consulting or advisory services will set you apart.
